Usinatech is looking for an innovative and passionate individual with a talent for product development to join our dynamic team in Melbourne! As a Process Engineering Specialist, you will report to the Director of Engineering & Business Development and be responsible for developing, analyzing, and improving our manufacturing processes. You will play a key role in preparing machining project bids for our national and international clients and contribute to our continuous improvement program. You will work in an automated and robotic production environment.
Your Challenges:
- Monitor, troubleshoot, analyze, and implement processes to improve performance and quality.
- Prepare technical bids in collaboration with relevant departments.
- Act as the main technical point of contact for the client during the preparation, clarification, and final negotiation phases of the bid.
- Be the technical resource for developing manufacturing processes.
- Define an optimal manufacturing process, including production times, machine resources, materials, and human resources, while ensuring quality and productivity.
- Determine the necessary tooling to meet required production speed and quality.
- Estimate the lifespan of consumables and adjust inventories accordingly.
- Anticipate equipment, tooling, fixture, and special packaging needs.
- Analyze data to propose and implement improvements.
- Develop design proposals for project managers.
- Participate in problem-solving and production troubleshooting.
- Write work instructions to ensure quality and productivity.
- Adapt to applicable design standards and procedures to meet specific project requirements.
- Complete technical request forms related to APQP.
- May be required to coordinate various projects.
What We Are Looking For:
- Education: DEC in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a similar role (experience in machining is an asset).
- Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of machining equipment and instruments.
- Understanding of different types of metals.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings.
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Lean tools.
- Familiarity with IATF 16949 standards and PPA documentation (an asset).
- Languages: Fluency in French and a good level of English to facilitate communication with clients outside Quebec.
